Avalon & Stone Harbor School Consolidation Still a Debate

#58 January, 2010,There has still been no decision regarding a potential merge of Stone Harbor & Avalon elementary schools. A future date making this decision has not been set, however both boards of education have narrowed the choices to include a one or two-school combined pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade district. A one-school district would likely utilize Avalon Elementary school because of improved facilities. The other option would be two separate districts with two schools, likely Stone Harbor with Kindergarten-4th grade and Avalon with pre-Kindergarten and 5th to 8th grades; or status quo.
